Profiles of XiaPu

Xiapu city, a holy land enclosed by mountains and sea, a wellness garden congregating talents, has been endowed with great beauty, deep love and broad view by heaven. A “Shell mound relics” is remained in Huanggua Mountain of Xiama Village, Shajiang Town in Xiapu about 4000 B.C., which is the birthplace of East Fujian’s civilization. Xiapu located in the central point of China’s golden coast, with the longest coast line in the western coast of Taiwan Straits, and is set up as a county as early as the 3rd year of Taikang Emperor in Jin Dynasty, and was always the capital of East Fujian From Tang Dynasty to Qing Dynasty. Xiapu boasts excellent ocean shipping condition, and had been abundant in materials and owned a perfect port, which is called as “Zhou State and Lu State along the coast and gateway city among Fujian, Zhejiang and Taiwan” (Zhou State and Lu State are two ancient China’s states with brilliant civilization).

Xiapu has a favorable geographical conditions and profound civilization settlements. Dongchong peninsula is praised as “the most beautiful peninsula in China”, Xi’nan port is a port with the greatest development potential; two lake-like land-locked seas Dongwuyang and Guanjingyang are rare in the world, and Yangjiaxi River is a national scenic zone; Jianshan Temple, the place that the originator of Wei Yang Sect, one of the five sections of Zen Buddhism of the Buddhism world, Chi’an, the landing place of Great Master Kukai of Japan in Tang Dynasty, and five large sandy beaches, Dajing, Gaoluo, Xiahu, Luxia and Beidou that stretch long and unbroken.
The place is abundant in resources and convenient in transportation. One of China’s greatest fishing grounds – Shansha Fishing Ground is located here, with more than 700 marine fishes, above 200 beach creatures, and can produce over 300,000 tons of aquatic products annually, amongst which the yields of kelp and large yellow croaker come out top in China. Such farm products as Yuanxiao tea, late ripen Lichee and Longan have been long known; a three-dimension traffic web consisting of expressway, railway, airport and deep water port has been formed in Xiapu.
Xiapu has special ties with Taiwan with harmonious conditions of people. Shansha port is only 126 sea miles away from Keelong port, and the two places had trade relationships from ancient years with the same language and similar folk custom; Xiapu is the small-amount trading point that was established at the earliest in Fujian province, a labor export point to Taiwan and a lee for Taiwanese ships, the first Taiwan aquatic products trading hub in China, and an important window for transactions to Taiwan in Western Taiwan Straits and for the intensifying the cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan.
Xiapu, just as her name implies, is a place spread with shining glow of sunlight, and a large coastal county endowed with pivot position and prominent advantages in the great development around Sandu’ao in East Fujian, is now welcoming the unprecedented opportunity for her development together with her 520,000 people, and vigorously implementing the development strategy of “rise with industry, stabilize with agriculture, promote with tourism and strengthen with sea”, braving wind and waves, to write a magnificent symphony of mountains and sea.
